WHO PAYS FOR WHAT TRADITIONALLY?
We all know the fairy tale, a big white dress, church full
of flowers and hundreds of guests enjoying a sumptuous feast. But who pays for
all this splendour and luxury?
Well, if you are a traditionalist you will be sweet talking
daddy round about now and asking him to splash the cash as it were, but if you
are one of the more common couple types you will probably have to pay for your
own wedding with maybe a small contribution from some relatives, some more
ideas on this later.
So to give you some idea of costs and who pays for what, we
have listed below a guide to responsibilities when it comes to financing a
wedding. !

WHO PAYS FOR WHAT AT A MODERN WEDDING?
- The
costs may be divided equally between the two families
- The
bride and groom may choose to pay for the wedding themselves
- The
bride and groom may pay for the majority of the costs with both families
contributing towards elements that they'd like to help with, e.g. flowers,
transport or cake
- The
two families may offer to contribute a certain amount towards the wedding,
to be spent as the bride and groom wish
- If
either or both sets of parents are divorced a compromise can usually be found
using a mixture of options
These days there are no hard and fast rules and the option
for the brides family paying for the entire wedding is usually unheard of,
therefore the best advice is to talk to your families and get their ideas and
thoughts and work something out that suits you all.
Most importantly of all…..do not let it upset either of you,
it can be difficult to approach parents but they may in fact approach you, or
you could give them some magazines with some ideas of costs included. Be open
and honest and don’t over stretch yourselves.
GOOD LUCK!
